Michigan Outlaws is the University of Michigan Law School's LGBTQi(&allies) student association. As of today, we have over fifty active members and hundreds of alumni throughout the world. Our goals are simply to create a welcoming environment for LGBTQi students and to provide a forum for exploration and education in queer legal issues.

Marriage Equality in California!

In another victory for LGBT persons nationwide, the California Supreme Court held that a ban on same-sex marriage violates the California constitution. Here's the text of the opinion.

In the words of Matt Coles at the ACLU, "Marriage in California will transform the discussion of marriage nationwide. California has one of the largest economies in the world. Given the state's economic clout, the fact that California is marrying same-sex couples will put considerable pressure on the rest of the country to recognize those marriages." Read more here.
